Pier Jacopo Alari Bonacolsi, known as Antico (c. 1455–1528), transformed the art of bronze sculpture. His contributions are celebrated inAntico: The Golden Age of Renaissance Bronzes, the first monographic exhibition in the United States devoted to the Italian sculptor and goldsmith.

On January 21, 2011, the Lido Civic Club will be honored Mike Rizzo, Executive Vice-President and General Manager of the Washington Nationals. at the Washington Golf and Country Club, in Arlington, VA. At the last moment Rizzo was unable to attend the event because of family reasons.


At its November 2011 meeting, the Lido Civic Club presented a check for $5,000 to the Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children (CSAAC) The check was presented by Lido Club president Tom Mauro and it was accepted by CSAAC founder Jane Ford Salzano and Carl Salzano.

On June 7, 2011, Washington's Mayor Vincent Gray and Rome's Mayor Gianni Alemanno, signed an historic agreement making the two world-capital cities "sister cities." To mark the occasion, the famed Capitoline Venus, one of the best-preserved sculptures to survive from Roman antiquity, was officially presented in the grand West Building Rotunda of the National Gallery of Art, Washington by Mayor Alemanno.
